Tyre Size Guide

Checking all four current tyres on your vehicle is very important and we recommend using the below checklist to ensure your order is correct.

Do you have two different tyre sizes on your vehicle?

Double check your front and rear tyres to see if you have different sizes.

Does your vehicle need RunFlat Tyres?

Check if your vehicle has an "RFT" "MOE" on the tyre sidewall. Vehicles that usually require RunFlat tyres are BMW, Mercedes, MINI & Renault.

Do you need Commercial or Light Truck tyres?

These will have the letter "C" or "LT" written in the size on the sidewall of your current tyres (e.g. 195R14C or LT35X10.5R16 123)

Does your current tyre size on your vehicle match your ordered size?

When you are looking at your tyres on your vehicle, check to make sure that your Width, Profile, Rim, Load and Speed rating match.
The example tyre below has a tyre size of 185/55R15 81H. Where the numbers appear in the left-hand example below is where your current tyre's numbers will appear on the tyres you have fitted to your vehicle.

tyre size marking guide

What do the above markings mean?

Width (A) - The tyre width measured in millimetres. In this example, the width is 185.
Profile / Aspect Ratio (B) - The profile is the depth of the tyre sidewall. This measurement is taken from the wheel to the outer circumference of the tyre and is a percentage of your tyre's width (55% of 185mm). In the example above, the profile is 55.
Rim Diameter (C) - The diameter of the wheel rim measured in inches. In this example, the rim diameter is 15.
Load index - The load index on a tyre lets us know what the maximum load-carrying capacity of that tyre is. You are able to order a load index that is the same or above your vehicle's standard requirement. To find this load index, check your Tyre Placard and/or the current tyres on your vehicle. In this example, the load index is 81.
Where is my Tyre Placard? The tyre placard is usually a sticker that is located on the driver’s door/doorframe, petrol lid or glove compartment.
Speed rating - The speed rating of a tyre lets us know the maximum speed in which the tyre has been tested corresponding to the tyre's load index. Speed ratings were established to match the speed capability of tyres with the top speed capability of the vehicles to which they are applied.
While tyre manufacturers can produce tyres capable of very high speeds, it is not recommended to use the tyre in excess of the legal speed in your state or territory. In this example, the speed rating is 210km/hr / H rated.

What's the best way to find new tyres for my vehicle?

The best way to purchase the correct new tyres for your vehicle is to check the tyres you are currently using and enter that width, profile and rim into our Search by Tyre Size bar above.
You can also use our Rego Search, but please be aware that this search method provides tyre information based upon original equipment for your vehicle. The result may not be accurate for what you actually require.
To avoid ordering the wrong tyres we strongly advise that you check the size of both the front and rear tyres currently on your vehicle along with the tyre placard in your vehicle.

Run Flat Tyres

Run flat tyres provide an extra layer of safety and are designed to be driven on for a certain distance after a tyre loses pressure. After losing tyre pressure, the driver must maintain a steady speed of no greater than 80km/h, for a maximum distance of between 50km - 80km (depending on the tyre brand).
Run Flat tyres may only be fitted onto vehicles specifically manufactured to accommodate Run Flat tyres and these vehicles always have a functional Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Typical vehicle manufacturers that utilise Run Flat tyres are BMW, MINI, Mercedes and Renault. If you currently have Run Flat tyres, you will see the letters 'RFT' written on the sidewall of your tyres.
Please note - the fitting of run flat tyres should be carried out by a specialised fitment centre or Dealer.

Commercial & Light Truck Tyres

Some Commercial, or Light Truck vehicles require Commercial or Light Truck-rated tyres. These tyres will display a "C" after the rim size or an "LT" before the width measurement on the sidewall of your current tyres - e.g. 195R14C or LT35X10.5R16.
If you have a question or would like help, please Contact Us as we'll be happy to help you find the tyres you need.

Mercedes Original Equipment Extended Mobility (MOE) Tyres

Tyres marked with MOE are specially designed for Mercedes vehicles. This provides a limited runflat capability - usually operating in a lesser capacity to Runflat tyres and should only be used on Mercedes vehicles.
Mercedes Benz vehicles equipped with MOE tyres must not be replaced with other tyre variants.
