Subaru is a division of the Japanese company, Fuji Heavy Industries. The company is known for using the boxer engine layout in many of its cars.
One of the company’s first cars, the Subaru 360 was released in 1958 and sold well. It was a two-door compact car with a rear engine that was designed for Japan’s light car requirements. It was nicknamed the “ladybug” in Japan and was one of Japan’s most popular cars.
Up until 1998, Subaru Australia cars were All-Wheel Drive, however the BRZ is now a rear-wheel drive. The company is actively involved in racing and has won 10 consecutive Australian Rally Championships.
The current Subaru model range includes the Forester, Impreza, Liberty, WRX, Outback, XV and BRZ.
